Jennings agrees Tigers move

08/04/2005 - 12:20:50
Promising Leinster flanker Shane Jennings will join Zurich Premiership leaders Leicester for the start of next season.

The 23-year-old came off the replacements’ bench for the Irish provincial side to face the Tigers during last weekend’s Heineken Cup quarter-final.

His arrival should compensate for the loss of Neil Back, who is taking up a coaching position with the Welford Road outfit at the end of this season. He could also provide cover for England stars Lewis Moody and Martin Corry, who will make a late return to domestic action if, as expected, they go on the Lions tour this summer.

“We’ve done a lot of homework on Shane, as an individual and in the Leinster team,” said Pat Howard, who will take over the coaching reins from John Wells at the end of this season.

“He is a different sort of player to Neil Back, he can break defensive lines and he is only 23 years old.”
