Mary McAleese to attend Pope’s funeral
04/04/2005 - 15:58:37President Mary McAleese will be present at the funeral of the Pope this Friday. The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has yet to confirm whether he will be attending.
Millions will be attending and millions more will be watching as Pope John Paul II is laid to rest in Rome this Friday.
The Primate of All Ireland Sean Brady and Cardinal Desmond Connell will represent the Church in Ireland at the funeral.
The White House has confirmed that US President George W Bush and his wife Laura will attend the funeral.
The Royal wedding of Charles and Camilla, scheduled for this Friday, has been postponed until Saturday to enable Prince Charles travel to Rome to pay his respects.
