Kenny asks Govt to reconsider day of mourning decision
04/04/2005 - 13:05:18Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has called on the Government to reconsider its intention not to declare a national day of mourning for the Pope.
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has ruled out such a move, which would mean a public holiday to mark the death of John Paul II.
Mr Kenny said today that a day of mourning should be declared on Sunday due to the Pontiff's influence on many people in Ireland.
