04/04/2005 - 10:23:17
Gardaí are to carry out a technical examination of the scene of the gangland style killing in Dublin's south inner city last night.

The shooting happened in a pub on Francis Street at around 10.15pm. The victim, who is believed to be in his 40s, was rushed to St James' Hospital where he died a short time later.

Gardaí say the gunman was well dressed, middle-aged and tall, with grey hair. He fled the scene on foot and is believed to have been drinking in the pub for some time before the killing.

The scene of the shooting has been sealed off pending technical examination. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
