Quinn sets the tone for Dublin win
Offaly 2-06 Dublin 1-13
An early Tomas Quinn goal helped Paul Caffrey's Dublin secure their first away win of the league campaign at Tullamore this afternoon.
The visitors fired clear into a 1-04 to no score lead after only 11 minutes, as Quinn's first-minute strike rocked the Faithfuls back on their heels.
A late Offaly rally in the first half put a better complexion on the scoreboard, with the home side four points in arrears, following Niall McNamee goaled on 35 minutes.
The Dubs - who lost midfielder Ciaran Whelan to a yellow card shortly before the break, for a foul on Ciaran McManus - conceded a second goal just minutes into the second half.
Alan McNamee set up well-known hurler Neville Coughlan to blast to Stephen Cluxton's net and it was game-on with just three points between the sides.
On the hour mark there was still three between the sides, following efforts from the visitors' Alan Brogan and Sean Connell (0-02) and Nigel Grennan, McManus and substitute Damien Hunt.
A Peadar Andrews foul on John Reynolds looked to have spoiled Dublin's day on 67 minutes, when Longford referee Derek Fahy pointed to the penalty spot.
However, Cluxton reacted brilliantly to deny McManus and two Quinn points in the closing stages wrapped up the points for Dublin.
