Celtic vow to sign Bellamy
03/04/2005 - 12:06:15Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has promised to do everything in his power to sign Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy permanently.
The champions will have to splash out around £5m (€7.3m) to secure the on-loan Magpies star but Martin O’Neill has been told the board will do their utmost to raise it.
Lawwell said: “We can’t give absolute promises but we will do everything we possibly can to keep Bellamy.
“The biggest assumption though is that the player wants to stay.
“Craig has been a huge success and everyone at Celtic is delighted with him.
“He has fitted in brilliantly and we have no complaints about him on or off the park.
“The board know the fans would love him to stay – we want him to stay too".
