Govt launches new adoption contact register
30/03/2005 - 10:42:43Junior Minister Brian Lenihan has officially launched a new adoption contact register to help people who have been adopted to contact their natural parents.
The voluntary register is also designed to help people trace children they gave up for adoption in the past.
Those wishing to put their name on the register can do so via applications forms due to be delivered to every home in the State in the coming weeks.
Contact can only be initiated if both parties are included on the register.
If a match is made, the two parties will be contacted by the Adoption Board and it will be up to them to make arrangements on how to proceed.
