Cross-border trade group claims firms missing contracts

Businesses on both sides of the border are missing cross-border public sector contracts worth billions of euro, according to InterTradeIreland and business advisors, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

All-Ireland trade group InterTradeIreland says the all-island market for public sector contracts is worth over €16bn, but that most private sector companies have no idea how to win public sector work.

In an attempt to help businesses on both sides of the border tap into the cross-border public sector, InterTradeIreland is launching a second Supplier Education Programme, taking place in April and May.

In the past six months, the 65 participating companies on the first Supplier Education Programme won €10m of new, public sector business in the Republic and North of Ireland.
