Kelly concerned at one-sided hurling encounters
29/03/2005 - 07:48:27GAA president Sean Kelly yesterday admitted he was concerned at the level of one-sidedness in recent National Hurling League clashes.
Last weekend, Wexford humiliated Down in beating them by 41 points and Dublin went down to Kilkenny by 22 points. The previous weekend, Tipperary trounced Antrim by 29 points.
Kelly admitted: "It's something that's been happening for some time. The margin of victory is certainly bigger and though you'd want to know what the likes of Down think about losing games like that before drawing conclusions, there's no doubt it's a concern."
However, he added that the Hurling Development Committee had made plans to improve the standards in the so-called weaker counties in the near future.
