U2 start Vertigo world tour
29/03/2005 - 08:18:18U2 kicked off their Vertigo worldwide tour in San Diego, California, last night.
The long-awaited tour will feature songs spanning the band’s entire career, from 1980 debut album Boy right through to recent hits from How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb.
Last night’s show was their first live performance in four years.
The sold-out North America leg of the tour will take in 13 cities before wrapping up in Boston on May 28. The band then heads for Europe for a string of summer gigs.
The foursome return to Ireland on June 24 for two shows in Croke Park. The concerts smashed box-office records selling 160,000 tickets in under an hour.
The band returns to the US in September and ends the tour in Portland, Oregon, on December 19.
