Limerick came out on top in this turgid relegation dogfight and signalled their intentions form the start as they raced into a five-point lead with points from Eoin Keating, Michael Reidy, Conor Fitzgerald and two frees from Muiris Gavin.

Sligo pulled back with four points but an Eoin Keating goal helped Limerick to a 1-7 to 0-5 half-time advantage.

Five minutes into the second half, Limerick found the net again as Conor Fitzgerald fired home. The sides then swapped points with Gavin scores keeping Limerick in front - 2-10 to 0-10.
