Jamelia steals limelight at Capital FM awards
25/03/2005 - 08:30:56Jamelia has quashed fears her recent links to gun crime have had a damaging impact on her career by scooping a major prize at London's 95.8 Capital FM Awards.
The sexy Thank You has proved she's still a major force in the UK pop industry after winning the Favourite Female Vocalist gong at the Capital FM ceremony on Wednesday.
R&B singer Lemar bagged the equivalent male prize, while Favourite UK Single went to Natasha Bedingfield, for her song These Words. Bedingfield was also crowned Favourite UK Newcomer.
Favourite International Artist was awarded to Scissor Sisters and Girls Aloud picked up Favourite Pop Act statuette.
Mariah Carey was honoured with an Outstanding Contribution To Music prize, while Bob Geldof was chosen to receive the Special Achievement title.
