Oscar-nominated Moreno turns in a compelling performance as the pregnant teenage Maria who longs to escape from her depressing life in a Colombian slum.
She is given the chance to get to America, if she becomes a 'mule' transporting drugs. The story follows her trials and tribulations not only on the actual journey but on her own personal journey of discovery.
Moreno is quite stunning as the little lady with an iron resolve to beat all the odds and win through … hope, for Maria, springs eternal.
