Planning application successes climb 30%
24/03/2005 - 13:08:46The Central Statistics Office has reported a 30% increase in the number of successful planning applications in the final quarter of last year compared with the same period in 2003.
The CSO said 25,790 planning applications for new houses and apartments were approved between September and December of last year, compared to just under 20,000 in the same three months of 2003.
It said two-thirds of the successful applications related to new houses, while the remainder related to apartments.
The CSO also said almost 20% of the applications were for one-off houses, compared to 35.6% of successful applications in the third quarter of 2003.
