D'Ainay is Aintree possible
23/03/2005 - 11:12:39Crystal D’Ainay could make his British chasing debut in the Betfair Bowl at Aintree next month.
Trainer Alan King is considering a surprise change of direction with the six-year-old after a disappointing run when pulled up in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at Cheltenham last week.
Crystal D’Ainay has stuck to the smaller obstacles since transferring to King’s yard in 2003 but he had previously won over fences when with Guillaume Macaire in France.
King is now considering a switch to chasing with the Grade Two race over three miles and a furlong on April 7 a possibility.
He told The Times: “He’s already run, and won, over fences in France and I might run him in the Betfair Bowl at Aintree. I’ll school him on Friday.”
