Jarvis hope looks Divine

Divine Gift, ante-post favourite with some firms for the Stanleybet Lincoln, is reported to be well on course for the Doncaster feature on Saturday week.

Ladbrokes have the Michael Jarvis-trained runner as their 8-1 joint market leader, together with French hope Royal Guard, for the mile handicap.

The four-year-old won a conditions event at this meeting last year, although he was well beaten back at Doncaster in October.

“He’s an intended runner. He’s a spring horse and I think he won on Lincoln day last year,” Jarvis said today. He looks very well at the moment, and he’s been working OK in what we have done with him. He’s on target for the race and hopefully he will run.”

The Lincoln meeting usually marks the start of the new turf season but with Easter falling a week earlier this year, Kempton will host Saturday’s curtain-raiser.

Jarvis is set to be represented at the Sunbury track by St Andrews in the Coral Rosebery Stakes, as long as the ground stays on the easy side.

St Andrews won twice on heavy ground last season but Jarvis is happy to let him take his chance on good conditions.

He added: “St Andrews is an intended runner as long as the ground is no faster than good. I know it’s good to soft at the moment, but the forecast is for some warmer weather I believe and he wouldn’t want it quick.

“He’s got a big task on his hands, though, as he will be carrying top weight racing off a mark of 104. But he’s a decent horse when conditions are right.”
