Shane McEntee takes up vacated Bruton seat

Fine Gael's newest Dáil deputy Shane McEntee has taken his seat in Leinster House.

Mr McEntee was elected in the constituency which former Taoiseach John Bruton represented for more than 30 years.

He admitted he was nervous but said he was relishing the challenge of being a TD: "I mightn't look nervous on the outside, but I am nervous.

"I'm not here for the job, I'm here to do a job - that's the way I want it. I'm here for two years to do it and make my mark and, please God, to push home the things that are needed."
