Murphy takes up office at Leinster House
22/03/2005 - 15:22:12Kildare North's first woman TD has arrived at her new office in Leinster House.
Independent Catherine Murphy made history when she took the seat vacated by former Minister for Finance Charlie McCreevy earlier this month.
The new Deputy said that she is delighted to be representing her constituents.
“The one thing I will always keep in mind is the people who have sent me here and the reason why they have sent the message," she said.
“Tony Gregory said it during the election campaign very forcefully that in sending an independent deputy to the Dáil there is no confusion about the message that you send – you put your constituency on the map.”
