CSO reports 20% increase in licensing of new cars

The number of new cars licensed in Ireland last month was up 20% on the figure for February 2004, according to the Central Statistics Office.

The CSO said 24,153 new private cars were licensed for the first time in February of this year, compared to just over 20,000 in the same month last year.

The most popular new cars were Toyota (3,444), Ford (2,856), Nissan (1,942), Volkswagen (1,803), Opel (1,628) and Renault (1,537).
