Ballincollig bomb scare a hoax

Ballincollig town centre has been reopened to the public after being temporarily cordoned off this morning following the discovery of a suspect device.

The device, which was found on the windowsill of the Bank of Ireland branch in the town, was declared to be a hoax after being examined by bomb disposal experts.

A threatening letter had also reportedly been sent to the bank this morning demanding an amount of money.
