Leeds go back to the future with Admiral deal
Leeds have agreed a new five-year sponsorship deal with Admiral in an agreement which will revive memories of the 1970s.
No financial details have been released about the contract which renews a relationship initially established in 1973 when Admiral and Leeds launched the first-ever branded football shirts.
And, in what could be a good omen for the Elland Road side, Admiral were also kit sponsors when Leeds won the league title in 1992.
As part of the deal, Admiral will also launch a range of retro Leeds shirts.
Tony Hutchinson, chief executive of IBL plc, which owns Admiral said: “We are delighted to once again associate Admiral with one of the most famous football clubs in the world.
“Leeds United and Admiral pioneered the replica market in the early 1970s, and this new agreement will significantly enhance Admiral’s visibility both nationally and internationally, and bring substantial benefits to both parties.”
