Irish fencer grabs bronze in US
Irish fencer Siobhán Byrne won a bronze medal yesterday at the 16th Annual National Collegiate Men's and Women's Fencing Championshiops in Houston, Texas.
Ireland's top fencer, Siobhán is currently attending Ohio State University on a sports scholarship.
Siobhán met 2004 Olympic Gold medallist, Mariel Zagunis in the semi-finals. Zagunis achieved silver at this event with Emily Jacobson, representing Columbia, taking the gold.
Siobhán and her younger sister, Kiera, will be joining the Irish team for a five-way tournament between Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England in Durham on April 2 and 3.
