Dennis expects shift in F1 dispute

19/03/2005 - 12:03:21
McLaren boss Ron Dennis expects the future of Formula One to become clearer next month.

Two rival factions, with Ferrari and Bernie Ecclestone on one side and the remaining nine teams on the other, have spent recent months squabbling over the shape of Formula One post-2007.

The current Concorde Agreement, which governs the sport, expires in 2007 and little progress has been made toward finding consensus on how to progress beyond that date.

Ferrari have already signed with Ecclestone but the other nine teams are united in demanding a new order in Formula One.

Dennis today revealed that the aims and proposals of that group will become clearer in the coming weeks.

He said: “I anticipate some agreement will be put in place in the next month that will carry a headline title, but it’s not for me to anticipate what that will be.

“The process is coming forward. Working groups are focused on the key areas and manufacturers are involved.”
