PDFORRA slams Air Corps attempt to ‘silence’ witness
18/03/2005 - 12:14:23The body representing members of the Irish Defence Forces has expressed concern at a move by Air Corps management to prevent a soldier giving evidence before a Rights Commissioner.
PDFORRA said the soldier wanted to give evidence to the Rights Commissioner as part of a case being taken by his colleague.
It said the military authorities had no right to block this move and was attempting to treat the soldier as a second-class citizen.
PDFORRA general secretary Gerry Rooney said: "We would have thought following the work on bullying and harassment and workplace dignity generally in the Defence Forces that nobody would seriously attempt to constrain that right, but Air Corps management have."
