85 people killed in road accidents so far this year
18/03/2005 - 11:43:59The number of people killed on Ireland's roads so far this year is up slightly on the figures for the same period last year, according to the National Safety Council.
The council said 85 people had died in road accidents so far in 2005, compared to 83 up to March 18, 2004.
Spokesman Brian Farrell said: "We really need to remember that using the roads is the most dangerous thing we do on a daily basis, so we've go to be conscious of our own safety and the safety of others."
