Roddy fears Rovers cash crisis
Shamrock Rovers’ manager Roddy Collins fears his plans to turn the Hoops into silverware chasers could be wrecked by the cash crisis at the club.
Rovers are €1.7m in debt while the Tallaght stadium saga continues, and the club admitted that it feared it could not meet the players’ wage bill for the season.
Collins said: “I’m not having a go at anyone in the club but I’ve told them how important it is that the players are paid. I’ve been in the situation myself when I worked on the building sites. I’d do a week's work and then be told there was no money there for me. It’s not a nice experience.
"If it happened here, it would be a major problem. I’ve already targeted players that I want to bring here in the summer and that would be jeopardised if there was a difficulty with money."
