Northern civil servants to strike over increased pension age

Civil servants in the North have voted to go on strike against plans to make them work an extra five years before collecting their pensions.

Members of the Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance are planning a one-day stoppage in two weeks' time and have threatened further action if their concerns are not men.

More than two-thirds of the union's members have backed the action in protest at the British Government's plans to raise the pension age for civil and public servants from 60 to 65 without negotiation.
