'The Insider' praises smoking ban
14/03/2005 - 16:06:08The man responsible for disclosing some of the tobacco industry's darkest secrets has praised Ireland's smoking ban.
Jeffrey Wigans, who was dubbed the "ultimate insider", is in Dublin to launch a new study entitled Clearing the Air.
It will coincide with the first anniversary of ban on March 29 and gives an in-depth account of the ban.
Mr Wigans, made famous in the Russell Crowe movie The Insider, praised former Minister for Health Micheál Martin.
“I think Minister Martin truly took a political risk and stuck to his guns in the face of a lot of personal as well as political risk,” he said.
