Swiss carrier climbs amid Lufthansa takeover talks

Shares in struggling carrier Swiss International Air Lines rose today following a weekend announcement of a possible takeover by Germany’s Lufthansa.

The company stayed tight-lipped about negotiations.

In a joint statement, Lufthansa and Swiss confirmed long-standing rumours that they were in talks.

Swiss spokesman Jean-Claude Donzel declined to elaborate.
