Delaney gets FAI post
John Delaney has today been confirmed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Football Association of Ireland.
Delaney, who had previously been in the post on an interim basis since December 1, has been handed the full-time role after making “great progress” according to FAI president Milo Corcoran.
Corcoran added: “I am looking forward to that progress continuing apace under his stewardship as he brings his passion for the sport, combined with his experience as a businessperson and his knowledge of the game at both voluntary and executive level to the role.”
Delaney is now hoping to meet a number of targets set as he said: “We have huge challenges in getting our children interested and active in football and we must invest heavily now in order to reap the benefits in the next 10 years.
“We have succeeded in finalising agreements worth over €21m to the association in recent weeks and we need to continue to attract commercial partners and sponsors to generate the income to invest in the game.”
