Commitments Special Edition sees long overdue release

11/03/2005 - 22:09:04
The Commitments Special Edition (Fox) is your chance to catch up on Alan Parker’s homage to Dublin and the blues.

Roddy Doyle’s story sparkles with wit as a young band of hopefuls try to take the world by storm with their passion for the blues.

Andrew Strong delivers a sensational performance as Deco, but the cast is not far behind, with Angelina Ball and Colm Meaney among the best.

A bunch of interesting extra features flesh out the title, including an Alan Parker commentary (why not include Doyle and some cast members?), a Looking Back documentary which tells us where all the young stars have been since the film’s release.

Doyle and some of the cast then take a look at working class Dublin, while there’s also a musical audio of Strong and Robert Arkins (the band leader), plus loads of TV spots, and two ‘Making of’ featurettes.
