Henry faces three-week lay-off

10/03/2005 - 18:36:59
Arsenal’s season unravelled further tonight when Thierry Henry was ruled out for up to three weeks with his calf strain.

The club’s leading goalscorer will miss Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Bolton, where the Gunners lost in the Premiership this season, and the league trip to Blackburn.

The 27-year-old sustained his injury during last night’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

He scored the only goal of the night but Arsenal exited 3-2 on aggregate as Bayern’s 3-1 first-leg advantage proved crucial.

Last season’s league champions have already conceded the title this year, and the FA Cup represents their last chance of silverware.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said on Arsenal PLUS: “We have lost Thierry Henry for two or three weeks with a calf strain.

“Apart from that there is nothing new from last night except for fatigue. I will look at that and tomorrow make a decision over who plays.”
