IBF blames Govt for financial inflation rises
10/03/2005 - 19:12:38The Irish Bankers Federation has blamed Government stamp duties for high price rises in the financial services sector.
Figures published today show prices for financial services have increased by 28% since the end of 2001.
But the IBF has said 23% is made up of hikes in stamp duty on credit, debit and ATM cards.
Excluding the rises caused by stamp duty, the IBF claims inflation in financial services ran at half the overall rate.
