Pope appears at hospital window
09/03/2005 - 11:44:47The Pope made a surprise appearance at a Rome hospital window today, the third glimpse of him since his throat surgery nearly two weeks ago.
John Paul’s appearance came shortly before noon on a day when he traditionally holds his weekly public audience at the Vatican – an event that often draws thousands of pilgrims.
Several hundred people gathered at the hospital cheered as his hand came into view, shouting: ”The Pope! The Pope!”
