INO warns of strike threat at Cork hosptial
09/03/2005 - 15:12:44The Irish Nurses Organisation has threatened strike action if the Government opens its €16m A&E unit next month with less staff than they say it needs, the Evening Echo reported today.
According to the INO, the nurses at Cork University Hospital's current A&E unit are already working at burn-out levels.
Yesterday the existing A&E unit was forced to close to all but emergencies for several hours when staff became overstretched with 30 patients on trolleys and all beds full.
The INO will meet with health officials for crunch talks next Monday, the Echo said.
