FTSE pushes clear of 5000 landmark
09/03/2005 - 13:24:51Takeover talk was lifting spirits on the London market today as the FTSE 100 Index moved well clear of the key 5000 level.
The FTSE 100 Index climbed 9.2 points to 5021.4 by lunchtime.
The upbeat mood came despite the sky-high cost of crude dampening spirits across the Atlantic overnight.
Analysts were tipping the Dow Jones Industrial Average to provide further momentum by opening higher today.
