Celtic appoint new commercial director
Celtic have appointed David Thomson as the new commercial director at the club.
The 39-year-old was most recently employed in a similar role at Leeds and will take up his position at Celtic Park on April 18.
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “David’s experience will be extremely useful as we continue to explore a range of new and existing avenues to generate additional income for the football team.
“The fact that he has worked in partnership with Nike for two years will also be a major benefit to us when our new kit deal commences at the end of the season.”
Thomson, who was born in Dunfermline, previously held senior-level retailing positions with Marks & Spencer and HMV and has been a season-ticket holder at Celtic Park for 20 years.
Thomson said: “People speak about dream jobs and this is undoubtedly mine. It’s a major challenge but one that I’m relishing.
“The partnership with Nike and advances in technology such as the internet and mobile phones mean there is a growing number of avenues to be exploited to help increase the finances available to support the footballing operation.”
