First half efforts not enough for Sligo

Galway 4-16 Sligo 0-07

A rampant Galway kept neighbours Sligo scoreless in the second half of their 4-16 to 0-07 victory in Tuam.

Michael Meehan top-scored for the Tribesmen with 2-05 after they had overcome a dogged effort from the visitors in the first half.

The sides were locked at 0-07 apiece before Meehan's expertly-hit penalty edged Galway clear.

Peter Ford's charges punished hapless defending from the Yeats men in the second half as Padraig Joyce - marking his return from the sidelines - Meehan again, and Derek Savage found the visitors' net.
