Oil tanker catches fire off the coast of Norway

A Norwegian oil tanker en route from Liverpool is on fire off the port of Mandal in southern Norway.

Its 28 crew members, all Indians, have been evacuated by helicopter.

The 560-foot Fjord Champion was not transporting oil but had 800 tonnes of fuel on board for its own consumption.

Emergency services said a risk of fuel leaking and causing pollution could not be discounted while the fire was still burning.
