Makaay blow for Munich
05/03/2005 - 18:51:35Arsenal’s hopes of a Champions League comeback were boosted tonight when Bayern Munich striker Roy Makaay was carried off in his side’s 1-0 win over champions Werder Bremen.
The Dutch international was taken off with two minutes remaining with a suspected hamstring injury which looks almost certain to rule him out of Wednesday’s last-16 fixture at Highbury.
Bayern, who have a 3-1 advantage after the first leg against the Gunners, finished the game with 10 men because they had used all their substitutes when Makaay was injured.
