Greening plans to stay with West Brom

Jonathan Greening has pledged to remain with West Brom even if they lose their battle to stay in the Barclays Premiership.

Greening joined the Baggies from Middlesbrough for £1.25million last summer and the midfielder has been one of their most consistent performers.

The Baggies, who entertain Birmingham on Sunday, went into the weekend programme seven points adrift of the safety zone with only two wins to their name this season.

But Greening is adamant he will not be looking to leave The Hawthorns should the club make an instant return to the Coca-Cola Championship.

The 26-year-old said: “It would be soul-destroying if West Brom go down and is certainly something I don’t want on my CV. But if West Brom are relegated, I will stay to help the club get back up.

“A few of the lads have said that if we do go down, we can come straight back up if we keep the same squad.

“The players we have here are too good for the Championship. I would be willing to be part of that side.

“I signed for four years last summer and unless the club get a bid, accept it and let me speak to anyone, then I am here for the four years. Simple as that.”
