GM agrees deal with Opel workers

US car giant General Motors reached a deal with its German staff today for increased flexibility in work schedules in return for a no-layoff pledge for the next five years.

The head of Opel, the company’s German subsidiary, said the working week would vary from 30 to 40 hours a week.

It would average 35 hours, said Hans Demant.
