Students seek to highlight cutbacks

The Union of Students in Ireland is carrying out a series of actions across the country today to protest against cutbacks in the third-level education sector.

The protests have been arranged to highlight student anger over a number of issues that the USI has blamed on a lack of investment in third-level education.

In Cork, UCC students are due to protest against cutbacks in accommodation and health services, while Trinity College students in Dublin are gathering signatures for a petition against poor heating in college buildings.
