Melchiot winning fitness race
02/03/2005 - 08:10:12Birmingham defender Mario Melchiot is winning his battle to be fit for Sunday’s clash with West Brom at The Hawthorns.
The former Chelsea player missed the weekend defeat at Crystal Palace with an ankle injury but is making good progress.
Striker Emile Heskey will also be available for the derby after serving a one-match ban for incurring five bookings.
Blues manager Steve Bruce confirmed: “Emile and Mario will both be back on Sunday and they are both big players for us.
“We definitely missed Emile, his physical presence and what he brings to the team against Palace, and Mario has been excellent all season.”
