Rescued from rubble after eight days
01/03/2005 - 11:08:05A 40-year-old man has been pulled out alive from the rubble of his house eight days after an Iranian earthquake.
Ahmad Habibzadeh was found alone under his destroyed home in Zarand, south-eastern Iran.
Unable to talk, he was taken to a hospital, the state news agency reported.
The powerful quake killed 612 people and injured more than 1400 on February 22. It levelled several villages and left thousands of people homeless.
Iran is located on seismic fault lines and is prone to earthquakes. It experiences at least one slight quake a day on average.
