Robson wants cure to away blues

01/03/2005 - 09:46:28
West Brom manager Bryan Robson admits his side have to start winning away from home this season to have any chance of staying in the Barclays Premiership.

The bottom-placed Baggies have produced some impressive form on their travels but with little reward for their efforts and no victories in 13 attempts.

With six of their remaining games away from The Hawthorns, Robson is aware the record has to improve drastically.

Robson, whose side have just returned from a five day training camp in Florida, said: “We haven’t won any games away from home and that is something we have to put right.

“Some of our football in away games has deserved all three points but we haven’t got them. We need to get a couple of wins on our travels.”

The Baggies will visit Chelsea, Charlton, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Middlesbrough and Manchester United in the final quarter of the campaign, currently needing eight points to climb out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Albion midfielder Andy Johnson insists he will make a complete recovery from the knee operation which has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

The former Wales international suffered cartilage damage after a challenge by Fulham’s Luis Boa Morte in the clash at Craven Cottage in January.

Johnson said: “Do not believe any player who says that they get used to injuries and operations.

"You never do. It is the most frustrating aspect of the sport.

“I have had many operations and they get harder to deal with, not easier. Being ruled out for the rest of the season was a bitter blow for me, not just because it means I miss matches, but because I was enjoying football like never before.

“There is a mental pain as well but the good thing is that it was a routine operation. It was the one that will enable me to play again.”
