Much to discuss for Limerick County Board

01/03/2005 - 08:18:55
Limerick's hurling management, and the dual player issue, are expected to come under discussion at tonight's meeting of the county board.

Following a second successive league defeat and a second successive miserable display, Padjoe Whelahan's future as Shannonside boss looks to be under threat.

Limerick were trounced by Cork in the opening round of the league and were beaten by six points by Tipperary on Sunday, but the scoreline flattered to deceive following a below-par performance.

Manager Whelahan was downbeat in the aftermath of the Tipperary game.

He said: "Things are very low. It can't get much lower than we're going now. And I'm getting older every week coming down to Limerick. That makes it worse again."

The players had a meeting in the wake of Sunday's defeat and the management team held discussions last night ahead of tonight's meeting.
