Kluivert pushing for return
01/03/2005 - 14:33:17Newcastle striker Patrick Kluivert is pushing for a return to the starting line-up as he tries to shake off a groin injury.
Kluivert, whose last appearance saw him score the winner in a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup last month, has sat out the last two games – against Heerenveen in the UEFA Cup and Bolton in the Premiership – with the problem.
But he is back in training and there is a chance he could figure against Liverpool in the Barclays Premiership at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Assistant manager Alan Murray said: “Patrick has had a grade one tear in his groin, but he is progressing very well and we are hopeful that he will be back for us on Saturday.”
