Cork City players robbed
Mobile phones, cash, jewellery and a watch were stolen after a robbery at Cork City’s Deerpark training base on the southside of the city last night.
The break-in occurred between 6.30pm and 8.30pm as the first team squad trained under manager Pat Dolan for over two hours.
Several players including Mick Devine, Denis Behan, Neale Fenn and John O’Flynn had items stolen including their mobile phones, wallets, cash, a watch and other personal effects.
Gardaí at Barrack Street are investigating the brazen raid on the player’s dressing room area and they are following a definite line of enquiry.
“We are conducting our enquiries and will follow up any leads we get in this crime.
“Two of the players - Denis Behan and John O’Flynn - have made official reports to the Gardaí but we are expecting one or two more of the injured parties to come forward later today,” Sgt. John Deasy of Barrack Street - who is the club’s Garda Liaison Officer - told the Evening Echo.

The Cork City players have a scheduled meeting with chairman Brian Lennox at the Rochestown Park Hotel after training tonight and will issue a statement afterwards.
Cork have arranged a pre-season friendly against Noel O’Connor’s Limerick at Garryduff on Thursday afternoon (4pm).
They travel north on Saturday to play Cliftonville at Solitude with a 3pm kick-off.
