FG motion to express solidarity with McCartney family
01/03/2005 - 07:59:48Fine Gael is due to table a private members' motion in the Dáil this evening expressing solidarity with the family of murdered Belfast man Robert McCartney.
The 33-year-old was beaten and stabbed to death outside a pub in Belfast on January 30, allegedly by senior IRA members.
His family has since launched a campaign to bring the killers to justice, claiming that witnesses are too afraid to speak out and give information to police.
The motion due to be tabled by Fine Gael today will call on those who have information about the murder to come forward and give statements to the police.
